Deputy Minister Burdzhev Promised to Improve Infrastructure and Working Conditions for Fishermen
“We continue the fruitful cooperation with producers and processors from the fisheries sector”, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Stefan Burdjev during a visit to the largest mussel farm in the Balkans and a mussel processing plant in Kavarna, built and modernized with financial support of the Program for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries 2014-2020 (PMDR).
Burdzhev got acquainted with the activity and specifics of mussel processing and the modern technologies used in the enterprise, established worldwide, as the most efficient and high quality characteristics.
“We are exploring opportunities to improve the infrastructure and working conditions for fishermen landing their catches at the Balchik fishing port,” he said during a visit to the port of Balchik. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture met with shipowners and crew members of fishing vessels, who shared the current problems and challenges facing the local fishing community.
At a joint meeting with the mayor of Balchik Mr. Nikolay Angelov were discussed the prospects and benefits of future closer cooperation and partnership in order to improve the environment and working conditions of fishermen.
